Mediation Experience
David Evans was first asked to act as a mediator in 1999. He subsequently completed formal training with ADR Chambers (UK) Limited and became accredited as a civil and commercial mediator in 2005. Since then he has developed a substantial mediation practice in civil and commercial mediation acting as a mediator in all manner of disputes, from low value civil disputes and inheritance claims, to commercial breach of contract claims, landlord and tenant disputes, and high value commercial property and construction disputes involving substantial claims and several parties.
He is a founder member of Oxford Mediation (formerly the Oxford Mediation Group).
David will also act as mediator on a pro bona basis where appropriate.
"Evans is an experienced construction solicitor, who has developed a highly regarded mediation practice. In addition to construction-related matters, he has recently handled landlord and tenant, commercial property and inheritance disputes" (Chambers UK, A Client's Guide to the Legal Profession 2011)
Other ADR Experience
David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He accepts appointments as arbitrator and, where appropriate, as an expert in "expert determination".
He is also available to act as an adjudicator and will accept appointments under the Housing Grants (Construction and Regeneration) Act 1996.
David acts as an "evaluator" in Early Neutral Evaluation ("ENE"). In 2011 he chaired a panel of three ENE evaluators giving a non-binding decision (subsequently accepted by all parties) in an "all or nothing" dispute valued at over £10m.
Professional Experience
As a solicitor he practiced for some years as a commercial litigator. David has wide ranging experience of dispute resolution handling a variety of company / commercial, property, planning and construction related disputes, as well as trespass, nuisance, personal injury, negligence and other civil claims, contentious trusts, partnership and various private client disputes.
